The Word of God
By Wayne Jacobsen
"When we started calling the Bible the “Word of God” we unwittingly substituted a book and its principles for a vibrant relationship with Jesus and following his rules became more important than following him."

It was a bit difficult for me to understand at first what he talks about, what he means, because I don’t remember a time since my conversion I did not have a relationship with Jesus. So when I read John 5 I do find life in there because I let these words speak to me, I let them be the words coming from Jesus.
Before I ever held a Bible in my hand, somebody told me that God loves me and wants to come live in my heart through Jesus and I received Jesus before getting into the Bible. I got Jesus first then when I read the Bible that became the Word of God for me as I saw Jesus behind it, him speaking to me through these Words.
Many a Christian question this method of going for somebody to accept Jesus in their heart before they know the Bible and all it says about sin, repentance and salvation. But this may be the cause why so many Christians lack a close relationship to Jesus. If they let these words only go in their understanding, their mind, they will lack then that close bond to Jesus and the Holy Spirit and then Jesus Words from John 5 may come somehow true for them, “39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.” – A battle of the mind against the heart, flesh or spirit.
Kol 3,16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly – if you truly have Christ in your heart and are a new creature in Christ the Bible becomes the Word of God that will speak to your heart if you are receptive to the Spirit. – my stand and opinion.
Exactly! I hear more and more Christians talking about "relationship" rather than doctrine. It rings true to me.
